The latest addition to our portfolio of exceptional wines, a Bordeaux-style blend, is a celebration of nature’s profound influence on winemaking – an ode to the soil, climate, and the Creator who gifts us these elements.
The name “The Sacrament” reflects our gratitude for the divine elements that make great wine possible. As winemakers, we are merely stewards, working in harmony with the Creator’s design. This blend is a tribute to the sacred interplay of nature’s gifts, unaltered and uncreated by human hands.
Crafted with precision and reverence, The Sacrament embodies the essence of its Helderberg and Banhoek origins, where the vineyards grow in decomposed granite soils on south-westerly slopes. Comprising 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, and 20% Cabernet Franc, this wine spent 19 months in 100% new French oak barrels, followed by an additional year in the bottle, achieving unparalleled depth and complexity.
Each bottle is wax-sealed and packaged in a branded wooden case.
New Release – Beeslaar Pinotage 2023
The Beeslaar Pinotage is always a true expression of an incredible vineyard site and displays the power and concentration derived from these old bush vines. This 2.5ha vineyard is situated on a south-eastern slope at about 200m above sea level, and is in close proximity to the Simonsberg mountain north of Stellenbosch.
Handpicked grapes were destemmed, sorted, and fermented in open top concrete fermenters. The skins were punched down by hand, every 2 hours during fermentation. The juice was drawn off the skins after 3 days. Malolactic fermentation and maturation took place for 20 months in 225L French oak barrels (50% new and 50% 2nd fill).
The Beeslaar Pinotage 2023 is both elegant and intricate, with great length on the finish and the structure and depth to develop beautifully over time.
